SPRING IS IN
THE AIR |
|
Early in our winter
season, local weather
forecaster's snowfall
predictions reminded me
of Aesop's Fable, "The
Boy Who Cried Wolf."
Every time the forecast
called for hefty
snowfall I thought,
"yeah right." There
were more hyped up
forecasts of falling
snow than actual
snowflakes flying.
Then, nearing the end of
winter, it happened; the
"wolf," that being
Mother Nature, decided
to make her wraths
presence. She
ferociously pounded our
land with two snowstorm
wallops within a week of
each other. And
now, at times it seems
like winter is
infringing on our spring
season.
Technically, according
to the calendar, the
winter months are behind
us. We can now look
ahead to the months of
spring.
So, step aside grey
skies and make way for
the beautiful blue hue
that has eluded us for
some time now. The sun
is shining, grass is
greening, birds are
chirping, sweet scents
fill the air and a riot
of color is rising to
the occasion. Our land
is alive once again!
It's time to put a
spring back in that step
of yours, recharge those
batteries and get
energized! The start of
better times is here! Better
times to be had
outdoors. Enjoy all
that comes with the
spring season, even the
mud and the muck. Hey,
at least it's not SNOW!

"Spring is
when you feel like
whistling even
with a
shoe full of slush." -

HOLIDAY LUNCHEON |
|
On December 15, 2010
Horizon Villages
residents enjoyed an
afternoon of holiday
festivities at the
Country Club of
Ithaca. We were
pleasantly surprised
with the turn out
considering the
heavy wind and snow
that blew across the
greens that chilly
afternoon.
I remember looking
out at the
sprawling view of
the golf course and
thinking to myself
how fortunate I was
to be warmly
gathered together
with wonderful
people, delicious
food and delightful
conversation.
If you wish to view
pictures of the
event you can go to
horizonvillages.com,
select the social
events tab and
scroll down the
page. Or just click
on this link Holiday
Luncheon 2010.

refreshments will
include coffee, tea and
a variety of danish.
Look for your

the mail three weeks
prior to the event.
Also, the Men's Cocktail
Hour is beginning to
grow in popularity with
the men of Horizon
Villages. The event is
held bi-monthly on the
first Wednesday of the
month. The evening
offers the men an
opportunity to get to
know one another over a
glass of wine, a beer or
a coke along with
peanuts, crackers and
cheese. The next
Cocktail Hour will be
hosted by Herb Thomas on
May 4th, 2011 from 5pm

SAFETY BATH HANDLE |
|
Do you feel uneasy
or are afraid of
slipping and falling
while getting in and
out of the shower or
bathtub? With a
convenient suction
handle, you can
alleviate that
uneasy feeling and
help prevent
dangerous slips and
falls.
Horizon Villages
takes great pride in
accommodating the
safety needs of each
and every resident.
At the request of
the resident we will
install fixed grab
bars free of charge.
But, sometimes a
grab bar may be
required somewhere
that cannot be
drilled into, such
as fiberglass
showers and
bathtubs.
This handle is a
convenient
alternative that
instantly installs
using suction,
without requiring
holes, tools, screws
or permanent
installation. The
handle can be
mounted
horizontally,
vertically or
diagonally. The
handle must be
installed on a
clean, smooth, flat
surface for proper
suction. Simply
pushing the lever
locks the handle in
place while flipping
the lever up
releases the handle.
The handle is
intended for
stability purposes,
not full body
weight.
The handles range in
price from $7 to
$35. And can be
purchased from Wal-mart,
Bed Bath and Beyond
and online.
